Sahar Taman started her career over 30 years ago in the federal government working at the Executive Office of The President at the Office of Management and Budget in Washington DC. After a decade of working within governmental systems she pivoted her career to focus on humanitarian causes such as international youth education and interfaith programs. Sahar was awarded the National Award for Citizen Diplomacy in 2010 and the Peace X Peace Award in 2011. She holds a law degree from the Appalachian School of Law, a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire.

Today, she continues her advocacy efforts in the field of immigration law. Ms. Taman created the legal clinic at Fort McCoy Army Base in 2021, as part of Operation Allies Refuge following the rescue efforts by the United States military which guided thousands of Afghan clients towards immigration statuses. She is licensed in Illinois and practices federal immigration law in all 50 states. Ms. Taman is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the National Association of Muslim Lawyers. Currently, she is the principal attorney at Sahar Mahmoud Taman Law, PLLC, a full service immigration law firm providing comprehensive and compassionate care to her clients.
